Schott & Associates (S&A) was founded in 1993 by Martin Schott, Ph.D., PWS and was acquired by Jodi Reed in 2020. S&A specializes in providing professional natural resource services to businesses and government agencies. With our vast experience and broad portfolio of completed projects, S&A provides certainty that our clients will more easily and efficiently obtain their development objectives and comply with environmental regulations. Whether you are a private individual, small business owner, large corporation, or a government agency, we can help you navigate the maze of natural resource regulations through our comprehensive set of services.
Our primary area of expertise involves wetlands-related services. These include determinations, delineations, inventories, functional assessments, management plans, mitigation planting design, construction monitoring, and performance monitoring. We are thoroughly familiar with Section 404b of the Clean Water Act, Oregon’s ORS 196 and OAR’s (141-085) concerning wetlands, and the wetland ordinances of local governments and districts throughout Oregon and Washington.
In addition, we have extensive experience with wildlife habitat regulation at both local and federal levels including the Endangered Species Act, and our staff has experience with conducting bird, amphibian, and mammal surveys. We have prepared numerous Biological Assessments, conducted threatened and endangered species surveys for both plants and wildlife, and performed wildlife habitat assessments. We regularly submit reports to jurisdictions throughout the region and provide expert testimony at public hearings and court cases.
S&A also possess full, in-house Geographic Information Systems capability (GIS). GIS is an indispensable tool for creating, displaying, analyzing, and managing geographically referenced datasets. We use GIS for vegetation, habitat, and site feature mapping; topographical and hydrological modeling, visualization, and spatial analysis; as well as the creation of visual aids to inform project planning and design, and to effectively communicate with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders.
