Oak Seedling Giveaway 2024

November 15, 2024 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Do you have a good place to plant an Oregon white oak tree in Washington County? Join us for our third annual Oregon White Oak Seedling Giveaway! Sign up today to receive free seedlings and other oak habitat-related swag.
Oregon white oak trees (Quercus garryana) provide a key habitat in Washington County and this essential habitat is in decline. Oak trees are known as a tolerant species that can survive droughts and fire and they support dozens of rare birds and wildlife species. Tualatin SWCD is working to protect this unique and threatened habitat and we want to make it easy for you to join us!
Fill out the form below to reserve up to 10 free Oregon white oak seedlings. We’ll have your seedling(s) available for pick-up on Friday, November 15th from 12-5pm at Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove.
Please keep in mind…
- Our free seedlings must be planted in Washington County or in the Tualatin River watershed.
- Oaks need to be planted in sunny areas away from other trees and in soils that drain well (i.e. don’t stay wet all winter).
- You will need space for a tree that could be 100 feet tall and just as wide in 100 years.
- Trees should not be planted close to buildings.
Please note, Mediterranean Oak Borer has recently been detected affecting Oregon white oak trees in Oregon. To learn more visit our Weed & Pest Directory entry here.

A limited quantity of seedlings and other complementary plants will be available on a first come, first serve basis during the event.
