Oak Seedling Giveaway 2025

November 15, 2025 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

All seedlings have been reserved, and reservations are now closed. Seedlings may be available for walk-ups during the event. Thank you for your interest in restoring oak habitat!

Do you have a good place to plant an Oregon white oak tree in Washington County? Sign up today to receive free seedlings, native bulbs and seeds, and other oak habitat-related swag.

Oregon white oak trees (Quercus garryana) provide a key habitat in Washington County and this essential habitat is in decline. Oak trees are known as a tolerant species that can survive droughts and fire. They also support dozens of rare species of birds and other wildlife species. Tualatin SWCD is working to restore this unique and threatened habitat. By offering free Oregon white oak seedings along with native bulbs and seeds, we hope to enable you to do your own restoration projects throughout Washington County.

This event is hosted by Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District in partnership with Banks Public Library.

How it works

Fill out the form below to reserve up to 10 free Oregon white oak seedlings, plus native bulbs and seeds. Reservations close on Monday, November 10th at 5pm.

You can pick up your seedling(s) during your chosen timeslot on Saturday, November 15th from 9am-1pm at the Banks Public Library (42461 NW Market St, Banks, OR 97106).

Please keep in mind…

  • These seedlings are provided in 1-gallon pots.
  • These seedlings must be planted in Washington County or in the Tualatin River watershed.
  • Oaks need to be planted in sunny areas, away from other trees, and in soils that drain well (i.e. don’t stay wet all winter).
  • You will need space for a tree that could be 100 feet tall and just as wide in 100 years.

Please note, Mediterranean Oak Borer has recently been detected affecting Oregon white oak trees in Oregon. To learn more visit our Weed & Pest Directory entry here.
